Services
We can do a wide range of things, some of which are listed below. Where possible, we work in our workshop, and where it isn’t, we come to you! We are fully equipped for site work. So whether you need a maximum strength ‘last a lifetime’ repair, or an on-the-fly ‘keep it moving’ fix, get in touch. If you don’t see what you think you need listed here, give us a go anyway- we have a wide network of skilled subcontractors and friends.
Welding and fabricating
We have full workshop facilities for MIG, TIG, Arc and Gas welding, as well as brazing and silver soldering. We can weld a wide variety of materials, including stainless steel, cast iron, and aluminium. One offs, repairs and even batch production are possible- from welding up a cracked manifold to making a run of 30 stainless steel casements. We are also equipped for Arc welding on site.
Forging and Platework
We have a small forge setup, with the ability to make damascus steel, specialist tooling, and blades. We also have access to a large, reconfigurable hydraulic press for forming special shapes in large pieces of plate. We have experience of hot riveting, hot plate forming, and hydraulic plate forming- having used this various apparatus to manufacture steam engine boilers in the past.
Machining
We have access to a full machine shop, with manually operated lathes and milling machines. Where necessary, we use subcontractors with various other machines, including CNC.
Carpentry and roofing
Carpentry is just another part of what we do- predominantly first fix framing, roofing(particularly sheet roofing and Kent peg tiles), oak framing, shuttering and hoarding, although we have done smaller jobs such as patching rotted tongue and groove boarding and hanging doors.
Mechanical work
Engine rebuilds, hydraulics, gearboxes and fault finding. We can do a wide range of mechanical work, from rebuilding the engine in a crusty old forklift to unjamming the brakes on a vintage Dyson trailer. We are particularly interested in classic cars, although we enjoy the challenges that working on agricultural machinery and plant can bring.
Electrical repair and installation
Our electrical work goes hand in hand with the mechanical repair side of the business- So many modern machines are electrically controlled, whether it’s hydrostatic dumpers and remote controlled HIABs or just the lights on your trailer. We can find the faults and repair them- in the past, we have seen equipment failure caused by anything from plain old water to birds and mice! We also do automotive and plant installation work- including stereos, lighting and CB radios.
